Most of us spend a good bit of time thinking about our future. When we are young we plan out schooling, our marriage, etc. As we get older its about careers, housing, raising children, is there enough money to retire. This is normal and we need to have a plan for sure.
I have found that God takes care of his people. He gives us a good mind, insight, and guidance to help us along the way.
As I said I believe it is important to have a plan and work in a direction to be successful, but how much time do we spend worrying about the future? I will admit its very easy to become “uneasy” when we dont have all the answers, or when things dont seem to line up the way we planned, or when our plans and dreams are “behind schedule” if you know what I mean. So I offer you this passage:
“ Therefore take no thought, saying what shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or how shall we be clothed? but seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for tomorrow: for tomorrow she’ll take thought for the things of itself sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” – Mat 6:31,33,34
This passage has a lot in it and can be interpreted in different ways depending upon the life application. However, I believe at face value God is simply saying “I got you, seek me first, and trust me”. I believe there is also an importance placed on living in the moment, one day at a time, because “today” is all we really have. Tomorrow is the womb of time, yesterday is the tomb of time… life is in the present day. Life is in the moment.
Thank you Lord for blessing all who read this and thank you that you help us and enable us to plan for the future, but ultimately you are in control and you will establish your people in the best way possible. In this life and in the one to come. Amen.
