Pray About it and Move on
Life is short. The older we get the clearer that fact becomes. It is very easy for you and I to dwell on mistakes we have made. I have often beat myself up over personal shortcomings.
Recently during a time of prayer I was reminded of a passage from the Apostle Paul:
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:13-14
I don’t think it could be put much better than that. Here we have one of the most used men ever admitting that he had not arrived to his full potential in the Lord.
Press Toward the Mark
But, what an attitude. What a positive mindset. There is no since in dwelling on our mistakes. Instead we should adopt the mindset of the Apostle. You and I are better to pray about it and forget it. Then as Paul says “press toward the mark”.
Our time is much better spent doing good for others. Trying to reach someone with the good news of the gospel. Speaking a kind word of encouragement to someone in need. Whatever, we can do positive. However we can advance the Kingdom of Christ, we should seek for these opportunities.
Worry and regret a simply thieves trying to steal our precious time. The next time you or I find ourselves dwelling on something negative, let’s quickly cast those thoughts down and refocus our mindset on Jesus and doing good for others.
